If you're looking for an easy-to-use video hosting platform with privacy controls, customizable video players, no ads, analytics, and pricing that is just $10/month, you can stop searching.

After years of using Vimeo and dealing with its increasing costs and recent changes under Bending Spoons, I spent months looking for a better alternative. Earlier this year, LIVID reached out and asked if I'd review their platform. I agreed because I was genuinely interested in finding a replacement.
After migrating my entire video library and using it for client work, I can confidently say that LIVID is the first platform that's convinced me to cancel my Vimeo subscription. Read my review below or watch the video above where I share my full experience. (Also, Vimeo's parent company, Bending Spoons, owes me $1k. Watch the above video to hear why.)
User Interface & Ease of Use
The first thing you'll notice about LIVID is how fast and streamlined everything feels.
Unlike some of the larger video hosting platforms, LIVID doesn't try to pack every possible feature into the interface. Instead, it focuses on the features most people actually use, making the platform incredibly simple and responsive.
Some of my favorite usability features include:
- Vertical and horizontal layout options
- Hover-to-preview video scrubbing
- Fast folder creation and organization
- Clean navigation throughout the platform

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the complexity of Vimeo or Wistia, this is a refreshing change. The software feels lightweight, snappy, and never bloated.
Player Customization
One of the biggest reasons to use a third-party video hosting platform is the ability to customize your video player. LIVID gives you plenty of control over how your videos look, including:
- Adding your own logo
- Changing accent colors
- Removing unnecessary buttons
- Creating custom links
- Matching the player to your brand
- Completely ad-free playback

Even better, these settings can be applied to individual videos or copied across multiple videos at once using batch editing. That saves a surprising amount of time if you're managing a large library.

Embedding Videos on Your Website
One of the biggest reasons to use LIVID is how easy it makes embedding videos on your website.
Simply copy the embed code, paste it into your website, and you're done. The player is responsive, ad-free, and fully customizable to match your brand.
One feature I really like is that if you replace a video in LIVID, the embed code stays the same. Your website automatically displays the updated video without needing to change anything on the page.
If you regularly have videos that need updating, this will be a very valuable feature for you.
Privacy Controls
LIVID includes all of the privacy features you'd expect from a professional video hosting platform.
You can:
- Password protect videos
- Create private or unlisted videos
- Restrict embedding
- Control downloads

Whether you're sharing internal company videos, client work, or website content, the privacy controls cover just about every common use case.
Video Review & Comments
One feature I use constantly is the built-in review system. You can send a video to a client or teammate, and they can leave timestamped comments directly on the video. This makes revisions much easier than long email chains. The interface is clean, supports emojis, and keeps feedback organized.

The only feature I feel is currently missing is comment notifications. At the moment, you aren't notified when someone leaves new feedback. That said, after working directly with the Livid team, they've been incredibly responsive to feedback, so I wouldn't be surprised to see this added in the near future.
Showcases
One of LIVID's newest features is called Showcases, and it's quickly become one of my favorites.
Think of Showcases as a mini website for your videos. Instead of sending multiple individual links, you can send someone a single Showcase page containing videos, folders, or entire collections. It's especially useful for client reviews, porfoliios and training libaries. Try it for yourself here.

Analytics
LIVID currently provides analytics at the individual video level. You can view detailed engagement information for each video, which is helpful for understanding viewer behavior.

The only limitation today is that there isn't an account-wide analytics dashboard. The good news is that after speaking with their team, they've confirmed this feature is already on the roadmap and coming soon.
Migrating from Vimeo
One of the biggest reasons I stayed with Vimeo for so long wasn't because I loved the platform—it was because I had hundreds of videos hosted there. Migrating everything manually would have been a nightmare. Fortunately, LIVID offers something called the LOVE Tool, which automatically downloads your videos from Vimeo and uploads them into your account.

The migration process was surprisingly smooth and saved me countless hours. Even if you decide to move somewhere else later, the tool also gives you an easy way to download your Vimeo library.
Who Is LIVID Best For?
I think LIVID is an excellent fit for the vast majority of people who need professional video hosting.
That includes:
- Small businesses
- Marketing teams
- Videographers
- Filmmakers
- Agencies
- Anyone embedding videos on a website
- Anyone who wants ad-free video hosting
The only organizations that might outgrow LIVID are larger enterprises with highly specialized requirements, such as advanced webinar platforms or complex enterprise workflows. For everyone else, it checks nearly every box.
Is LIVID Worth $10 Per Month?
Absolutely.
For $10 per month, it delivers nearly everything most businesses need from a video hosting platform. What stands out most is how easy it is to use. Everything feels fast, clean, and thoughtfully designed. After spending years with Vimeo, I don't see myself going back.

Another thing worth mentioning is the team behind the product. After working with them on several videos, it's obvious they're passionate about building a simple, customer-focused video hosting platform instead of trying to become an all-in-one marketing suite.
If you're looking for a Vimeo alternative, I highly recommend giving LIVID's free plan or free trial a try.
